Summary

Subcommittee Meeting. Mr Willson of Thames & Severn Canal Co suggested that Company repeal all restrictions on coal, grain, salt, iron and merchandise between Capel's Mill Viaduct and Brimscombe. The Thames & Severn Canal Co to give up right to receive 1s 3d per ton on coals brought up their canal from Stroudwater Canal and in lieu to receive one half of tonnage charged by Stroudwater Canal Co to their wharf at Wallbridge. Thames & Severn Canal Co to charge between entrance of canal and Capel's Viaduct tonnage equal in amount to that allowed by Stroudwater Canal Co.
One uniform rate of tonnage of 3 halfpence per ton per mile on Stroudwater Canal on corn, grain, iron and salt, and on entering T&S Canal 8d per ton only to be received by Stroudwater Canal Co. Thames & Severn Canal Co binding themselves to charge not less than 4d per ton between entrance of canal and Capel's Viaduct. Propositions to be embodied in agreement bearing seal of each Company.

At a Sub Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee Room at Wallbridge on Saturday the 24th day of January 1846
Present: M^r Wyatt, Watts, Holbrow, Wood.
M^r Willson attended and submitted the following proposals with reference to the charge for Tonnage on the several Articles mentioned as follow:
First: The Stroudwater Canal Company to repeal all restrictions on Coal, Grain, Salt, Iron and all kinds of Merchandise between Capel's Mill Viaduct & Brimscombe.
Secondly: The Thames and Severn Canal Company to give up theer right to receive One shilling and three pence per Ton on Coald brought into their Canal from the Stroudwater Canal and in lieu thereof to receive one half of the tonnage charged by the Stroudwater Canal Company to their Wharf at Wallbridge; the Thames and Severn Canal Company agreeing to charge between the Entrance of their Canal and Capel's Viaduct a tonnage equal in amount to that allowed by the Stroudwater Canal Company.
Thirdly: That there should be one uniform rate of Tonnage of Three halfpence per Ton per Mile on the Stroudwater Canal on Corn, Grain, Iron and Salt, and on Vessels (loaded with any of the before named articles) entering the Thames and Severn Canal a charge of Eight pence per Ton only to be received by the Stroudwater Canal Company; the Thames and Severn Canal Company binding themselves to charge a rate of not less than Four pence per Ton between the Entrance of their Canal and Capel's Viaduct.
Lastly: That these Propositions shall be embodied in an agreement bearing the Common Seal of each Company.
