I have your letter of the 29 September. As to the subject matter of the first two paragraphs, this Canal Company, has no responsibility. Re The lower Frome - we have got to the original bottom of the river and done all that we consider requisite. PS When inspecting the canal the other day, I noticed the footboards of the top gates at Shallow Lock were in a dangerous condition. Please have new boards fixed
