Dear Sir,
I beg to inform you that last evening -- 5.30 to 5.45 -- the boat "Alfreda", owner Mess^rs E T Ward & Son Ltd, ran into the bottom gates of Bristol Road Lock, the lock is now unworkable and traffic is stopped from there to Stroud and on.
I visited the place today, and was informed that a boat, the "Trial", M^r J Smart owner, was in the Lock and was within six inches of the level of the pound above but, when the "Alfreda" crashed into the gates the water in the lock lowered and took the boat ("Trial") through the gates into the pound below.
The "Alfreda" is an (?).
Major Little & M^r Bloxham inspected the place this morning and M^r G A Evans has phoned this evening if you desire to have an emergency Meeting of the Committee any day next week, excepting Tuesday, would suit him.
Awaiting your instructions
I am, dear Sir,
Yours faithfiully
