Dear Sirs,
Your letter of the 8^th inst. was brought before my Committee at their last Meeting and I was instructed to inform you that it is not anticipated that the Canal will be closed for any great length of time, and it is hoped that it may be opened for traffic in about six weeks time.
I any event, however, my Committee cannot accept any responsibility for any loss incurred through its being closed.
