Dear Sir,
We are pushing on with the work of repairing the gates at the Bristol Road Locks which will be ready for fixing in the course of a fortnight, but in order to do the work at the Lock the water in the pound below will have to be lowered.
On a former occasion a gap was cut from the Canal to a side drain on land adjoining, & we should like to do this again about 50 yards this side of the aqueduct.
I understand you are the owner of the land there (?) I would be glad of your kind permission to do the necessary, the C^o to replace as it was before the work was commenced,.
At present the Canal (?) stopped which is a (?) to traders and if you can help us in the way described your assistance will be greatly appreciated by the Committee.
Yours faithfully
P G Snape
