Verbatim text

Dear Sir,
Your letter of the 20^th Jany was before my Committee at its last Meeting and they decided to accept your offer to put in a dam for us above the Aqueduct at a cost not exceeding £50:-. We of course assume that this will include the whole cost of erecting & removal of the dam & all expenses incidental thereto and that you accept all responsibility for the same. We trust however that you may find that the expense will not be as heavy as you anticipate.
As mentioned in my telephone message yesterday I should be glad if you would proceed with the work at once as we are hoping to be able to draw the water no later than the 10^th inst.
Yours faithfully
P G Snape
