I was favord with your letter of the 9th Inst in due course, & by your leave to inform you that the Locks on the Stroud Water Canal are 15½ feet wide, and the Bridges are 12 feet high from the underside of the Arch to the surface of the Water. the Canal is 30 feet wide at the bottom and the mud to be excavated is from 2 to 3 feet deep, the is nothing but mud to excavate. The Company would like an Engine that would clear One Mile in forty days.
