To the Gentle Proprietors of the Stroud Navigation.
Gentlemen I have a Just Calculation of the forth Lock being the first at Chipnamplat to Find Stone workmanship and Seting Bricks Boteing Lime Sand and Bricklayers. To Back the Lock find Laberers to moove the stones Sink the land tye an other Extry work at the preeses under mentioned.
To make the 4 feet wide in the Botom and (?) them Properly to 3 feet wide in the top of the Lock some parts Strong and some parts weeker as it Necessarly Require it will be the Mediam the Bridge as strong and as good as that at the 2 Lock it will take 265 thoussand of with to Pay hou as^s per Thoussand find Cole and Lime Burneing sand and Boteing of the Bricks and Lime and Brick Laying it will Lyin 1^,,1^s,,0^d per thousand with Comes to: 278..5..0.
To find Stone workers seting and Water Carrage will Cost 1^s 3^d per foot and it will take 1738 feet with come to : 108..12..6,
to Back the Lock as find Laberers for geting the Stone to place and other Laberer Work for: 30..0..0.
and as M^r Besac dus the weel to the Backe of the Bridge I will take Care of the Pooning for the same as usial: 4..0..0,
Edward Egg agree to take all the Lockes & bridges at a^£-1^s-0^d per thousand to find all sortes of Laber watever such at the backing & puning of the Lockes & Bridges Lime sand Caridge of all sortes Except ware thers land caridge which mos be dun by the C^o teme bot he to find laber for loding and onloding the same. Stoe to find water Caridge to be 13^d per foot superfishell mestered on the fase wen finished to be alowd as above for each Locke and arch^d bridge Every thing within 100 yard to be alowd no teme, to alow the C^o 12 per thouson for the brick.
