Summary

Shoals had accumulated in navigation of upper district of the River Thames during the violent floods of the preceding winter.
Death of Treasurer, Mr Payn.
Mr Zachary Allnutt of Marlow was asked to represent the upper district of the Thames to the Commissioners. Request to them to have cause of complaint removed.
Mr Matthews, occupier of Lechlade Wharf. Injury done to his carts and wagons from want of shed to protect them. Mr Jones to estimate expense of a shed and Mr Denyer to request to Mr Protheroe for his permission to erect sheds with no additional rent. Materials required to be carried by Mr Matthews, the tenant.
Inexpedient to sell land and house at Marston Round House. Last year’s order rescinded.
Kempsford High Bridge in very bad state. Mr Charles Jones to rebuild as much as necessary.
Kempsford Wharf. Shed to protect carts and wagons. Mr Charles Jones to make estimate and assess additional rent.
Title deeds of property at Brimscombe. Meeting with Mr Mullings. Copies of Deeds and Deed of Covenant to be procured from Mr Lewis.
Mr Jones’ experiment of brick dome in tunnel shafts to be tried.
Measures to be devised for protecting the boilers of the steam engine from the action of atmospheric air.
The disadvantages complained of by Mr Nicholson, agent to the Park End Co, materially removed by remedies adopted by Stroud Canal Co.
Repair of approaches to Castle Eaton Bridge. £15 contributed.
Mr Jones suggested new mode of protecting canal from side leakages. Stopping banks by pile planks and land ties. To be tried on part of Summit Level crossing the Blue House Valley.
Crane at wharf at Brimscombe thoroughly worn out. New crane essential . Corresponce between Mr Denyer and Messrs Perry, Barrett & Co of Reading. Authorised to carry 5 tons.
Usual credit to be given to Mr Drewe as carrier on line of canal on his procuring security required.
Reduction in article of copper left for consideration of Mr Denyer with Mr Drewe.
Resolutions re tonnage charged, stone quarried on Summit Level, proposed to next General Assembly.
Griffins Mill Bridge. Mr Howell, owner of mill adjoining, through his solicitor Mr Aldridge, refused to pay any portion of expense of rebuilding.
£5 in aid of fund for two fire engines.
Mr Denyer allowed £3.5.7 for oak belonging to Company used for making Communion furniture for Brimscombe Church.
Carpentry: New lower gates at Eisey Lock and from there to Siddington.
Masonry: Wing wall to Latton Lock and coping to Castle Eaton.
Brick Work: Repair to Cerney Middle Lock and Siddington \second Lock.
Tunnel : Repair to side walls near Sapperton end, one piece in crown of long arching.
Summit Level: Repair of leakages and to towing path.
Mudding: Boxall Springs pound to Wilmore Upper Lock.
Carpenters’ work: Upper gates for Stroud Upper Lock; Parlor in Agent’s house; New stern in Summit Fly and graving complete, repairing Brimscombe Fly, repairing sills and paddles and general repairs.
Masons’work: Key wall at Daneway Wharf, wall against towing path to widen wharf; Putting hollow quoins at W Meachams Lock; Rebuilding new wharf wall at Brimscombe; Repairing wing wall at Wimberley Lock.
Agreed an improvement in Mr Denyer’s house at Brimscombe by means of a door in the passage and the Committee coinciding thereon.
Examination of bridge constructed over canal by Cheltenham & Gt Western Railway Co near Hinton’s Bridge and nearby swing bridge – both satisfactory.
Quay wall at Daneway and wall enclosing wharf on south side of Brimscombe Basin both satisfactory.
Mr Partridge permitted to build wall along the side of the towing path at Bowbridge
When an opportunity offers, dirty water, drainage of part of town of Stroud, now falling into the canal, to be conveyed under the canal. Owner of adjoining land to be asked for his permission.
Letters from William B Clegram and George Hawker agreeing the T&S Committee could proceed through the Stroud and Gloucester & Berkeley Canals.
Plan for puddle on upper slopes of Summit Level to prevent great loss of water by leakage.
