Verbatim text

Mr Willson Esg
March 27th 1844
Dear Sire
I am directed by the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation to inform you that the charge of 3d per Ton for Wharfage at Wallbridge and remaining thereon for the period of 24 houer will be strictly enforced and that the charge on Bricks will be at the rate of 2 Ton 10 Cwt for Red Bricks and 3 Ton for Fire Bricks per 1000 as charged previously to the alteration in August last.
But with respect to the tonnage on Converted Timber charged at our Wharf at Wallbridge, the Committee do not see that it is in violation of the 63rd Section of the Thames and Severn Act as suggested by you.
But if it shall be so considered, and the reasons for the same be stated to me, the attention of the Committee will be immediately called to a reconsideration of this point.
