Mr Priddey to set out the lower lock in Kemmett’s Orchard and to employ proper hands to dig out the same in order to finally determine the propriety of placing the first lock next to the Severn at that place.
At an Adjourned Meeting of the Director of the Stroud Water Navigation held this 23^rd Day of March 1775 at the George in Stroud
Present: Timothy Lewis in the Chair, John Hollings, George Hawker, Richard Aldridge, Robert Elliss, Thomas White, Thomas Baylis.
[Lower Lock Sett out] Ordered that M^r Preedy Imediately Proceeds to sett out the Lower Lock Ground in Kemmetts Orchard and implys proper hands to dig out the same, in order finally to determine the propriety or otherwise of placing the first Lock next the Severn at that place.~~~
[Notice to be given to the Proprietors of Lands] Ordered that M^r Grazebrook and M^r Hall writes and gives Personal or other Notice to the different Proprietors of Lands (from the Severn up to the Bristol Road) or their proper Agents, to desire them respectively to Meet an Adjourned Meeting of the Directors at the House of M^r Hall at Framiload in Order to treat with the said Directors for the Different Parcells of Land Necessary for the Cutt or Canal of the Intended Stroud water Navigation from each Person having Property in the Line of the Canal and that the said Meeting will be at M^r Halls on Wednesday the 29^th of this Instant March at 10 o Clock in the Forenoon. ~~~
