The Case of the Stroudwater Navigation discussed and all landowners to be asked whether they support the canal and Navigation.
Stone for Framilode Lock to be obtained from the Forest.
Subscribers to be chased to pay the third call on the shares.
At a Meeting of the Committee held by adjournment at the George Inn in Sroud on Monday the 23^d Day of October 1775
Present: Timothy Lewis, James Winchcombe, Robert Elliss, Thomas White. Durley Wintle, Thomas Baylis, Joseph Wathen, John Hollings.
Resolved that after reading over the Declarative Appeal that the title be altered to that of the Case of the Stroudwater Navigation and that the Case shall begin at the Letter A in the declarative appeal and end at the Letter B.
Resolved that M^r Jepson and Joseph Grazebrook are to make the previous Application to the owners and Occupiers of Lands, for their Assent to the proposed Canal or Navigtion, Distinguishing which of them on such Application have Assented to, or Dissented from the said Canal or Navigation, or are Neuter in respect thereto, ~~ and that M^r Yeoman and M^r Priddey make an Estimate of the proposed expence of the undertaking Signed by them ~~ and that M^r Colborne make out an Account of the Money Subscribed, and the Names of the Subscribers with the Sums respectively Subscribed by them, and also that M^r Hall is to Send M^r Lewis the Schedule of Lands, etc, to be printed by M^r Rudder, which he is to send by next Friday's Coach.
Ordered that M^r Hall goes over into the Forrest imediately and make a Discretional Contract for the Halling and delivery of the Stone for the finishing of the Lock at Framiload ~~ and that the said Lock be finished with all Speed, but the order be not put in execution till M^r Baylis, M^r Winchcomb, M^r Elliss and M^r Priddy, see the necessity or not of the same and to order accordingly.
Ordered that M^r Grazebrook do imediately wait upon the several Subscribers for the imediate payment of the third Call that have not already paid in the said Call according to the articles they have Severally entered into, and under the forfeiture to be incurred on Acc^t of Nonpayment, and that the Pettition be presented to the said Subscribers to be Signed at the same Time.
Ordered that M^r Colborne pay to M^r Grazebrook Eighty Pounds on Account of the Navigation.
Ordered that M^r Wathen be desired with M^r Caple to present the Freeholders Petition to the County Members on Acc^t of the Navigtion.
Ordered that M^r Land be wrote to by M^r Grazebrook to know what is to be done in respect to the Injunction about Carters Close.
Ordered that M^r Cook be desired to Attend the House in respect of the proof of Water concerning the Mills.
Ordered that this Committee adjourn and do hereby Adjourn to Tuesday the Seventh Day of November next at five o Clock in the afternoon at the George Inn in Stroud 1775
