Summary

Edward Keene to go to Broad Oak to seek best terms for oak timber of Thomas Powell.
James Bough to set forward lock at Bristol Road.
Mr Lingard to set at least 8 men to cut the lock at the upper end of Cocksey’s work and have the ground set out from there to Chippenham Platt and the other two locks to be cut out.
Mr Lingard to Gloucester Fair to buy three horses if any fit for purpose.

At a Meeting of the Committee held this 3^d Day of April 1777 at the George Inn in Stroud
Present: Joseph Wathen, John Hollings, Thomas Baylis, Robert Ellis, Freame Arundell, Benjamin Grazebrook.
Edward Keene reported that he had been to Broad Oak to view some Oak Timber, belonging to Thomas Powell about the Quantity of four Hundred feet, delivered on board our Barge at Eighteen pence per foot. Ordered that Ew^d Keend do go an agree with him on the best terms he can for ready money.
Ordered that M^r James Bough do sett forward the Lock at the Bristol Road, and that he do inspect the Bridge that is Building at the said Road.
Ordered that M^r Lingard do immediately sett at Least Eight Men to Cut out the Lock at the upper end of Cockseys work, and to have the Ground sett out from thence to Chippenhams Platt, to be forwarded with the utmost expedition, and the other two Locks to be Cutt out, and that he do report what State the works is in at our next Meeting.
Ordered that M^r Lingard do go to Glocester Fair on Saturday next and buy three Horses, if he can see such as are fit for our purpose, at a Sum not exceeding Forty Guineas.
Adjourned this Meeting to Thursday the 17^th Instant at four of the Clock in the afternoon at the George Inn in Stroud.
