Committee met Revd Mr Pettat to discuss glebe land in Bedersfield.
Samuel Smith to rent piece of Mr Martin’s land till next Lady Day.
At a Meeting of the Committee held by Adjournment at the George Inn in Stroud on Thursday the 18^th day of September 1777
Present: Joseph Wathen, Thomas Baylis, James Winchcombe, John Hollings, William Knight, Freame Arundell, Durley Wintle, Benjamin Grazebrook.
Read the Minutes of the last Meeting.
M^r King has not given any account of what will be the charge for drawing the water from the Mill during the Cleaning of the Mill pond.
M^r Keene has promised to finish the Board of Rules, against the next Meeting.
M^r Lingard has purchased Stakes and Railes, and the fencing is putting up. Ordered that M^r Lingard do see that the said work is Compleated as soon as possible.
M^r Colborne has wrote to M^r Price relative to the Timber, but no answer Yet Received.
Ordered that Benjamin Pashley do attend the next Meeting to enter into articles for performing the work of the Lock Gates, etc.
Mess^rs Knight, Winchcombe, Wathen, Ellis, Arundell, and Grazebrook mett M^r C: Gardner at M^r Whites, but did not come to any agreement with him.
M^r Grazebrook has Agree'd with Gabriel Harris Esq^r for his Land and paid him £4..4 in part of the purchase.
The Land for the Puddle Gutter is marking out; Ordered the M^r Lingard do sett hands to Cutt it immediately.
A View has been taken of Edmund Phillips Esq^rs Land, but could not come to any agreement with him, till we have treated with Henry Stephens Esq^r for an Exchange of Land.
The Committee having this day mett the Rev^d M^r Pettat to treat with him in regard to his Gleve Land situate in Bedersfield; M^r Pettat has Offered to let us the said piece of Land for his Life at the Annual Rent of Twenty Shillings; deffer'd the Consideration of this proposal to the next Meeting. ~~ The Rev^d M^r Davis will also attend the said Meeting relative to his Glebe.
Ordered that M^r Grazebrook do make an inquiry against the next Meeting, of the Rent of M^r Ruddals Orchard near the Turnpike in Haywards field.
Ordered that a General Meeting of the Proprietors of the Navigation to be advertised in the next Glocester Journal, to be held at the George Inn in Stroud on Thursday the 2^d day of October next.
Ordered a Bill to be drawn on our Treasurer for the Sum of Three Hundred Pounds.
Agree'd with Sam^l Smith to lett him a piece of Land of M^r Martins, till next Lady Day, for the Sum of Two pounds ten Shillings; if the said Rent should be Judgeed too much, an allowance to be made him.
Adjourned this Meeting to Thursday the 25^th Instant at three o Clock in the afternoon at the George Inn in Stroud.
