Summary

Mr Baylis to write to Mr Yeoman to recommend a superitendent of works who could be present at all times.
The rod for measuring the width of the lock be marked by the clerk and kept in a safe place.
Recommended that future locks be 5ft 6ins above the sill, 4 and a half bricks thick.

At a Meeting of the Committee held by Adjournment at the George Inn in Stroud on Thursday the 12^th Day of February 1778
Present: Joseph Wathen, Freame Arundell, John Hollings, Thomas Baylis, Robert Ellis, Benjamin Grazebrook, Thomas White.
Read the Minutes of the Last Meeting.
M^r Kings Account of Damages deffered to a future Consideration.
M^r Hollings Reported that he had met Henry Wyatt on his Lands hand had agreed with him for the purchase of what will be wanting at 40^s per Acre and Thirty five Years purchase, and had given leave immediately to enter upon it.
The Conveyances not Received from M^r Reddall; M^r Ellis is desired to wait on Mess^rs Lane and Jepson, to inquire if they have sent the Deeds to him, and if they have any answer from him.
Ordered that M^r Gleave do give Notice to John Pickston to take off his men immediately from M^r Reddalls Land, and Sett them to work in Burryfield till the Cutting at that part is Completed; and that no fresh Ground be broke up without particular Orders in writing from M^r B: Grazebrook or our Clerk.
Ordered that M^r Baylis be desired to write per this post to M^r Yeoman to recommend an Engineer to Superintend the Work till finished, informing him that such persons constant attend will be expected.
Ordered that M^r B: Grazebrook be desired to attend in Nicking out the Line of the Canal thr'o M^r Wyatts and M^rs James's Lands.
Ordered that M^r B: Grazebrook be desired to attend M^r Gleave in reviewing the Levell from the Lock in Nass Field, to the Lock in M^r Andrews Land against the next meeting.
Ordered that M^r Edwards do not Sell any of the returned Bricks unless M^r Smith be present at the Delivery of them.
Ordered that the Rod for measuring the Breadth of the Lock be marked by our Clerk, and that proper care be taken of it.
Ordered that Thomas Howell be Quickened in forwarind the Iron work for the Bridges.
Ordered a Bill be drawn on the Treasurer for the Sum of Two Hundred Pounds.
Adjourned this Meeting to Thursday the 19^th Instant at four o Clock in the afternoon at the George Inn in Stroud.
