Money received from tonnage from the 2 October 1777 to this day was £321 2s 2½. This to be used for completing the works
Commissioners appointed by Act of Parliament to meet at Cainscross on 30th.
A quantity of shafts without spikes are to be provided at the expense of the company and deposited with the keeper of Framilode Lock and that every barge coming into the lock leave their shaft or shafts with the lockkeeper and take those provided and exchange them on their return and that no shafts shod with iron shall be used on any part of the canal under penalty of 10s for every offence. (Note a shaft was a boat hook and if they were tipped with iron, they could damage the infrastructure of the canal)
If any barge master or other person sells coal from the barges while their cargo is discharging, shall forfeit a sum not exceeding £5 nor less than 20s.
A copy of these orders to be taken and affixed with the Company Seal.
The proprietors thank Anthony Keck for his plan and section of a lock.
The committee appointed Mr Thomas White and Benjamin Grazebrook inspectors and Mr John Cambridge and Joseph Grazebrook scrutineers for the present elections.
At a General Meeting of the Proprietors of the Stroudwater Navigation held this 9^th Day of April 1778 at the George Inn in the Town of Stroud.

The Minutes of the last Meeting were read and Confirmed.
The several Books and accounts were produced respecting the affairs of the Company (as directed by the act of Parliament) and examined and confirmed. ~~ The General State of the Works was also laid before the Proprietors.
Ordered that the money rece^d for Tonnage from the 2^d of October last to the Diay, amounting to the Sum of three Hundred and twenty one pounds two shillings and twopence halfpeny, be paid into the Treasurers Hands, and apply'd toward compleating the works.
Ordered that our Clerk do cause Notice to be inserted in the next Glocester Journal requesting the Commissioners appointed by Act of Parliament to meat at the Golden Cross in Cainscross on Thursday the 30^th Instant at three o Clock in the afternoon.
Ordered that a Quantity of Shafts, without Spikes, be provided at the expense of the Company, and deposited with the keeper of the Framiload Lock ~~ And that every Barge coming into the said Locks, do leave their Shaft or Shafts with the keeper of said Lock, ad take those which shall be provided, and exchange them on their return; And that no Shaft Shod with Iron shall be used on any part of the Canal under the penalty of Ten Shillings for every Offence.
And for the better ascertaining the Tonnage of Coals which shall be Navigated or carrye'd up the Stroud water Navigation We do hereby Resolve that any Barge Master or other Person selling or causing to be Sold any Coals from Barges while their Cargo is Discharging, or until the account of such Cargo of Coals is taken, and the Tonnage paid for the same, shall for every Offence forfeit a Sum not exceeding five points, nor Less than Twenty Shillings, at the Direction of the Committee for the time being. ~~ And we do hereby order and Direct that a Duplicate of this Resolution be made out, and that our Common Seal be affix'd to the same, and Recorded among our proceedings from making, Compleating and Maintaining the Stroudwater Navigation.
Ordered that the Thanks of the Proprietors be given to M^r Keck for his plan and Section of a Lock.
The Proprietors did in pursuance of a former Method prescribed for Regulating the Ballot of Chuseing a Committee for the ensuing yer, Appoint M^r Thomas White and M^r B; Grazebrook Inspectors and M^r John Cambridge and Jos: Grazebrook Screwtineers for the present Election, and the following return was made by the Chairman:
