Summary

William Franklin agreed to build the lock for £465.

At a Meeting of the Committee held by Adjournment at the George Inn in Stroud on Thursday the 30^th Day of July 1778
Present: Thomas Hayes, Thomas Baylis, Joseph Wathen, Thomas White, Freame Arundell, John Allaway, John Hollings, Richard Bigland, Robert Ellis, Ben^m Grazebrook.
Read the Minutes of the last Meeting.
No Account of M^r Kings Damages Yett Received.
Our Clerk waited on M^r John Hawker for the expenses of the Damages done at Lodgmore, which M^r Hawker has paid him, and the same is carried to account.
Ordered that our Clerk do write to M^r Lane to request he will not omit writing to M^r C. Gardner for the Title of M^rs Balls Land.
William Franklin agrees to Build the Lock adjoining to the Bridge at Dudbridge for the Sum of Four Hundred & Sixty five Pounds. Ordered that two fair Copies of the agreement be made out and the Seal of the Company affixed to the same and executed byt W^m Franklin.
Deffered the consideration of M^r John Kemmetts Accout to a future Meeting.
Ordered that the several watering Places on the side of the Canal be widened to a more easy Slope.
Ordered that M^r Hayes be desired to call on M^r Jones of Bristol, to desire he will forward the Spindles for the Swivell Bridges as fast as possible.
Ordered a Bill to be drawn on the Treasurer for the Sum of Five Hundred Pounds.
Ordered that the Aqueduct at M^r Turners be imediately forwarded as fast as possible.
Ordered that the Bridge at Ryeford be made straight with the present Bridge over the Old River, and that the same be imediately forwarded.
Ordered that a Temporary Road be imediately made over the Canal at M^r Cooks.
Ordered that the Backing to the Stone Bridge at Dudbridge be compleated, and the Road finished as fast as possible.
Ordered that Edward Keene do provide Oak Timber instead of Deal Baulks for the Swivell Bridges.
Ordered that a Call of Ten Pounds on each Share be made on the Proprietors of the Navigation and that the same be advertised in the next Glocester Journal to be paid on or before the 5^th of October next.
Adjourned the Meeting to Thursday the 13^th day of August at Nine o Clock in the morning at the George Inn in Stroud.
