Summary

Samuel Smith ordered to stop making bricks on the coal wharf at Chippenham Platt.
Mr James’s land is to be measured by Mr Samuel Keene of Hampton, and the balance due to be paid.
Edward Edge to be asked to build the Double Lock.
Ben Grazebrook to procure some Ragg stone to under build Mr Phillips’s house at Ryeford.
The corner of Kemmett’s Orchard next to Framilode Lock be secured by piles and stones behind the piles.

At a Meeting of the Committee held by Adjournment at the George Inn in Stroud on Thursday the 27^th day of August 1778
Present: Joseph Wathen, Thomas Baylis, John Hollings, Freame Arundell, Robert Ellis, Thomas White, John Allaway, Ben^m Grazebrook.
Read the Minutes of the last Meeting.
Rece'd an Account of M^r Kings Damages amounting to the Sum of Thirty Six Pounds six Shillings and Six pence, which is Ordered to be paid, upon M^r King giving a proper discharge for the same.
M^r Martins Damages not yet Settled, Ordered that M^r B: Grazebrook do Settle with him for the same as soon as possible.
The Bank in M^r James's Land not yett altered, Ordered that it be done the first Opportunity.
Ordered that M^r John Kemmett be paid the Sum of Ten pounds Ten Shillings for the money expended by him, and for his time and attendance on the Navigation, on his giving a Receipt in full for the same.
Ordered that Samuel Smith do imediately desist in making Bricks on the Coal Wharf at Chippenhams Platt, and that he do remove the Clay and Bricks already made on or before Saturday next.
Ordered that Clement Atkins do imediately fresh Stack the several Stacks of Bricks made by Geo: Edwards in the upper yard, and that he do put aside all such are unfitt for use, and that no more bricks be Halled to any part of the work till the bad Bricks are first put aside.
Ordered that our Clerk do apply to M^r Keene of Hampton, to measure M^r James's Land, and as soon as it is measured that M^r James be imediately paid the Ballance due for the same.
Ordered that Edward Edge do attend the next meeting, to enter into a Contract for doing the double Lock, and in the interim that M^r B: Grazebrook do inquire of him what terms he has to propose.
Ordered a Bill to be drawn on the Treasurer for the Sum of Three Hundred Pounds.
Ordered that M^r B: Grazebrook do imediately procure some Ragg Stone for the purpose of under Building M^r Phillips's House at Ryeford.
Ordered that the Corner of Kemmetts Orchard next the Framiload Lock be imediately secured by Piles, and Stones behind the Piles.
Adjourned this Meeting to Thursday the ao^th day of September next at 5 o Clock in the afternoon at the George Inn in Stroud.
