Damage done by flooding at Whitminster does not exceed five pounds.
Road over bridge to Mr Hill’s to be repaired.
Several slips into canal to be piled immediately to prevent their going further.
John Pickston is to be paid £20 over and above the 18d a day he is allowed to draw for his men employed in the cutting, and also £40 more as soon as he has completed the cutting to Ryeford.
Clerk to ask Mr Lane to take Counsel’s Opinion on the power of borrowing money to complete the Navigation.
At a Meeting of the Committee held by Adjournment at the George Inn in Stroud on Thursday the 10^th Day of December 1778

Read the Minutes of the last Meeting.
Ordered that the whole Account of Stone and Brick work done by Mess^rs Bough and Edge be produced as soon as Possible.
No Account Yett Received from M^r King for Stopping his Mill.
Rece'd a Letter from M^r Tho^s Powell, wherein he says that whole Damage don't the Lands at Whitmister by turning the water and flooding the same, does no exceed Five Pounds.
Mess^rs White, Allaway and Grazebrook Reported that they have waited on M^r Reddal, but nothing decicive was Settled relative to the Banks and Damages.
Ordered that the Road over the Bridge leading to M^r Hills be imediately Repaired.
Ordered that the several Slips in the Canal be Piled as soon as possible, in order to prevent their going further.
Ordered a Bill to be drawn on the Treasurer for the Sum of Three Hundred Pounds.
Ordered that John Pickston be paid £20 over and above the Eighteen Pence per Day he is allow'd to draw for his Men employ'd in the Cutting, and also £40 more as soon as he has Compleated the Cutting to Ryeford.
Ordered that our Clerk do waite on M^r Lane to desire he will procure a Counsills Opinion on the power of borrowing Money to Compleat the Navigation, or what Legal Mode he would reccommend for raising the Sum to Compleat it. ~~ And that our Clerk do request he will procure the same by our next Meeting. ~~ And also to enquire of M^r Lane weather he has procured the abstract of M^rs Balls Title, & what he has done in that affair.
Adjourn'd this Meeting to Thursday the 31^st Instant at 4 o Clock in the afternoon at the George Inn in Stroud.
