£150 has been borrowed from Bank.
Clerk to write to treasurer to know if he can advance £500 on the security of Messrs Wathen, Arundell, Jones, Allaway and Grazebrook.
At a Meeting of the Committee held by Adjournment at the George Inn in Stroud on Thursday the 17^th of August 1780
Present: Joseph Wathen, Fream Arundell. William Knight, John Allaway, John Hollings, Thomas White, James Dallaway, Ben^m Grazebrook, Nathaniel Jones.
Read the Minutes of the last Meeting.
Continued the Order relative to M^r Butchers Land.
The Wall for enclosing the Wharf to be reconsidered at a future Meeing.
Continued the Order relative to halling Earth for the Road at Ryford.
Our Clerk Reported that he hath inform'd M^r Chance of the Orders of the last Meeting. ~~ In Reply to which M^r Chance says that if he have Committed any Damage by Cutting down Timber Trees he will repair such Damage; but he expects to be paid a fair Price for the Apple Trees cut down in dedmarlin. Also that he do not expect to Pay the Extra Charge in making the Bank at Dedmarlin. M^r Chance further says that the payments for Lower Huntly are as follows Viz: to the Poor 3^s per Pay and four pays in the Year, and the Land Tax 16^s per Annum.
Ordered that our Clerk do inform M^r Chance that We shall insist on his making good the Quick Mound he has Damaged (which we apprehend must be done by Planting Quick and fencing the same) before we make him an allowance for the Apple Trees in Dedmarlin. Also that our Clerk make enquiry of the Assesors what M^r Chances Lands in Stonehouse Parish are Rated at.
Our Clerk Reported that he hath apply'd to M^r Colborne for £150 but it not being convenient to M^r Colborne to advance it, he has apply'd to the Gentlemen of the Bank and borrow'd the above Sum.
M^r Halliday being from home it is postponed waiting on him till a future time.
Ordered that our Clerk do write to our Treasurer to know if he can advance the Sum of £500 for present Occasions on the Security of Mess^rs Wathen, Arundell, Jones, Allawah & Grazebrook.
Adjourn'd this Meeting to Monday the 18^th Instant at 6 o'clock in the afternoon at the George Inn in Stroud.
