Stone coping for foot swivel bridge is to be laid on loose until the season is proper for setting and finishing.
A piece of arable land at Ryeford exclusive of the wharf let to John Pickston for three years. He was obliged to plant a ‘quick mound’ on the side next to the Turnpike Road. The Company to pay John Pickston £1 10s on completion of term provided hedge is well preserved.
Mr Elliott must pay £5 a year for the land and bridge on the southwest side of the canal or the bridge will be taken down.
At a Meeting of the Committee held by Adjournment at the George Inn in Stroud on Thursday the 14^th of December 1780
Present: Joseph Wathen, Thomas Baylis, John Hollings, Fream Arundell, James Dallaway, Nathaniel Jones, Thomas White, Ben^m Grazebrook.
Read the Minutes of the last Meeting.
Continued the Order relative to M^r Butchers Land.
Continued the Order relative to the Wall for enclosing the Wharf at Wallbridge.
Our Clerk Reported that M^R Chance desires to be inform'd wether the Committee will be at the expence of making out an Abstract of his Title Deeds, preparatory to the Conveyances being drawn. Ordered that M^r Chance be inform'd that We shall not be at any expense for such Abstract, And that We shall not pay him any further Interest agreeable to the Notice given him on the 6^th of October last.
M^r Halliday hath not yet attended the Committee.
Our Clerk Reported that he hath inform'd M^r Hill respecting the Gate but M^r Hill not having anything to do with erecting the same, the money was not Paid in consequence.
Our Clerk Reported that the Stone for Coping the Foot Swivell Bridge is ready at the Quarry. Ordered that the same be brought and laid loose upon the Walls in order to preserve the Same till the Season is proper for setting and finishing the said Coping.
Ordered that our Clerk do get the particulars of the several Pieces of Land purchased by the Company out of the Canal, and give Mess^rs Land & Jepson Instructions, in order that Conveyances may be made and the same secured by the Company.
Ordered that our Clerk do wait on M^r W^m King to desire he will attend the next Meeting and Settle for the Stone he hath taken, also to Pay the Rent due for the Land late Baxters, and to deliver his Acc^t for Damages, etc.
Agree'd to let the Corner Piece of Arable Land at Ryford (exclusive of the Wharf) to John Pickston for three years from Xmas next at three pounds per Annum, the Rent to be paid Annually, The said John Pickston to Plant a Quick Mound on the side next the Turn Pike Road and preserve the same during the said Term. And in consideration of the same being perform'd & fullfill'd We do agree to Pay the said John Pickston One pound Ten Shillings at the expiration of the said Term. An Article to be drawn and executed for the above purpose.
Ordered that a Letter be wrote to M^r Knight requesting his attendance at our next Meeting to Settle for his Lands, and that a Copy of such Letter be preserved.
Ordered that our Clerk do inform M^r Elliott that in case he do not pay five Pounds for one YEar to Commence at Xmas nest for the Land and Bridge on the South West side of the Canal (exclusive of Wharfage for any Coals and other things which may be Landed thereon) that the Bridge will be taken down. And if M^r Elliott refuse to Comply with the terms aforesaid that the Bridge be immediately removed.
Ordered that One Years Interest be paid for the Money Subscribed for the Loan.
Adjourned this Meeting to Thursday the 11^th of January next at One o'clock in the afternoon at the George Inn in Stroud.
