A trunk is to be immediately made with Elm Planks, the apperture about 2 feet by 1 foot and fixed under the bottom of the canal just above the bridge at Mr Sam King’s in order to convey the water of the rien ditch under the Navigation.
Survey has been made and levels taken from Wallbridge to Lechlade and as the plan appears practicable it is agreed that a meeting be called for the purpose of considering the canal and that the meeting to be held on 17 September is to be advertised in London, Bristol, Bath, Oxford and Gloucester papers.
At a Meeting of the Committee held by Adjournment at the George Inn in Stroud on Tuesday the 21^st of August 1781
Present: Joseph Wathen, Thomas Baylis, John Hollings, Fream Arundell, James Dallaway, Nathaniel Jones, John Allaway, Ben^m Grazebrook, Richard Bigland.
Read the Minutes of the last Meeting.
M^r Halliday not attending, Ordered that he be inform'd of the next Meeting.
M^r King not attending, Ordered that he be inform'd of the next Meeting and desired to attend.
Ordered that our Clerk do make application to the several Proprietors of Land in Pool Field to know it they will be satisfied with an open Drain at the foot of the Bank in the said Field.
The Obstructions in the Canal are removing agreeable to the Order of last Meeting.
Ordered that a Trunk be immediately made with Elm Planks (the Apperture about two feet by one foot) and fix'd under the Bottom of the Canal just above the Bridge at M^r Sam^l Kings in Order to convey the Water of the Rien Ditch under the Navigation.
In consequence of an Order from the last General Meeting, a Survey has been made and the Levells taken from Wallbridge to Lechlade, and as the Plan appears Practivable, It is agreed that a Meeting be called for the Purpose of taking the same into consideration and the said Meeting is agreed to be advertised in the London, Bristol, Bath, Oxford and Glocester Papers, to be held at the Kings Head in Cirencester on the 17^th of September next.
Adjourn'd this Meeting to Thursday the 13^th of September next at five o'Clock in the afternoon at the George Inn in Stroud.
