At a Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the George Inn in Stroud on Friday the 21^st of October 1788
Present: N Winchcombe, H Burgh, Jn^o Hollings, Jn^o Allaway, Jn^o Colborne, B Grazebrook.
Read the Minutes of the last General Meeting.
Order'd that our Clerk do transmit a Copy of the Resolution of the last General Meeting respecting the agreement between M^r Keck and this Company to Mess^rs Lane & Whitcombe at the same time the Committee desire them to proceed as the said Resolution directs and request an immediate answer the Situation of the Lock rendering it necessary that this Business should not be longer delayed.
Conformable to the Resolution of the last General Meeting, Ordered that our Clerk Edw^d Hains do purchase the best Staffordshire and Shropshire Coals at the lowest Price he can procure them at, and if sufficient shall not be produced upon the Canal that he is authorised to go to the best and nearest marketts to obtain the same, and that he should employ a proper Person to retail such Coals.
Ordered that our Clerk Edward Hains do apply to the Treasurer for Payment of such Coals and that they take his Receipt for the same.
Adjourned this Meeting to Friday the thirteenth Day of Feb^y 1789 at one o'Clock at the George Inn in Stroud.
