Committee to pay Mr Samuel Stevens £7 8s 4d for tonnage on coals sold for use of works of Thames & Severn Canal.

Committee to postpone erecting of dock in Stroudwater river until they have had further conference with Proprietors of Thames & Severn Navigation.

At a General Half Yearly Meeting of the Proprietors of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the George Inn in Stroud on Tuesday the 14^th of April 1795
Will^m Battersby Esa^r in the Chair.
The Minutes of the last General Meeting were Read and Confirmed.
The several Books and Accounts were produced respecting the Affairs of the Company as directed by the Act of Parliament and Examined and Confirm'd.
It appears by the Accounts that the Sum of £1427..1^s..8^d has been received for Tonnage, etc, from the 14^th of Octo^r last to this day, a part of which has been applied towards the Payment of Debts, Wages, Disburstments, etc there remains with a former Ballance in the Treasurer's Hands the Sum of £1395..13^s..4½^d.
Ordered that a Dividend of Nine Pounds be made on each Share to be paid by the Treasurer on the 14^th day of May next, and that our Clerk do transmit Circular Letters to those Proprietors who are absent from this Meeting to inform them they may draw upon the Treasurer or apply to him for Payment of the same.
Resolved that in future the Coal Committee or any two of them be empowered to draw upon the Treasurer for any Sum that may be necessary for the Purchase of Coals not exceeding £1000.
M^r Grazebrook being present agreed to accept the same on Condition of receiving Interest for any Money advanced over the Ballance on the Coals Account.
The following Gentlemen are appointed a Committee for the ensuing Year Viz:
Will^m Battersby, Jos^h Grazebrook, Sam^l Wathen new House, Ew^d Harford, Jos^h Harford, Rev^d W^m Ellis, Benj^n Grazebrook, Sir Geo Paul, Jn^o Allaway, Sam^l Smith, Rowles Scudamore, Jos^h Cripps, Jos^h Isles Wathen.
Resolved that the Committee be empowered to pay M^r Sam^l Stevens Jun^r the Sum of £7..8^s..4^d for the Tonnage of Coals sold for the Use of the Works of the Thames and Severn Canal.
Resolved that a number of Copies of the Abstract of Accounts as delivered at the Half Yearly Meetings be printed leaving Blanks and spaces for the figures and that one Copy filled up be sent to each absent Proprietor.
Resolved that M^r Nathaniel Jones be appointed in the Coal Committee in room of M^r Freebury deceased.
Resolved that the Committee do postpone the erecting of a Dock in the Stroudwater River, until they have had further Conference with the Proprietors of the Thames & Severn Navigation, and have reported the results thereof unto the next General Meeting and received further direction therefrom respecting the same.
Resoled that the Committee be empowered to buy a Vessell as a Lighter for the use of the Navigation.
