Special Meeting of Committee. Copy of Bill received. In present form Bill contains nothing material to interests of Company. Clauses might be introduced which affect interest. Josiah Isles Wathen to watch progress of Bill.
At a Special Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the George Inn in Stroud on Thursday the 7^th of Jan^y 1796
Present: Jos^h Isles Wathen, Jn^o Allaway, Sam^l Wathen, Benj^n Grazebrook, Jos^h Grazebrook.
A Copy of the Bill pending in the House of Commons upon the Petition of the Company of the Thames & Severn Canal Navigation being received from M^r Whites and considered, It is orderd that tho' in its present form the said Bill contains in it nothing material to the Interests of our Company yet in as much as in its further progress through the House of Commons, Clauses might be introduced into it, which might affect our Interest, M^r Jos^h Isles Wathen be instructed to watch the further progress of the Bill and to communicate with M^r White as occasion may require.
