General Half Yearly Meeting. Tonnage £996 4s 8½d. Balance £656 18s 8½d. Dividend of £4 declared.
Considerable destruction of fish by trawling and unauthorised modes of fishing. Granting of fishing tickets to be rescinded.
At a General Half Yearly Meeting of the Proprietors of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the George Inn in Stroud on Tuesday the 9^th of October 1798

The Minutes of the last General Meeting were Read and Confirmed.
The several Books and Accounts were produced respecting the Affairs of the Company as directed by the Act of Parliament and Examined and Confirmed.
It appears by the Accounts that the Sum of 996^£..4^s..8½^d has been received for Tonnage, etc, from the 10^th of April last to this day, a part of which has been applied towards the Payment of Debts, Wages, Disburstments, etc, there remains in the Treasurers Hands after paying the last Dividend, and Two Hundred Pounds in addition to the Coal Trad the Sum of £656..18^s..8½^d.
Ordered that a Dividend of £4 per Share be paid by the Treasurer M^r J Grazebrooke on the 1^st day of December next and that our Clerk do transmit Circular Letters to all the Proprietors to inform them they may draw upon the Treasurer or apply to him for payment of the same.
A considerable destruction of Fish having been made by trawling and unauthoriz'd modes of fishing by some persons to whom Ticketts for Angling in the Canal have been granted, Resolved that the Order of the 14^th of October 1783 allowing the grant of such Ticketts be henceforth rescinded.
