At a Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee at Wallbridge on Wednesday the 19th day September 1849
Present: M^r Tho^s C Croome, M^r Will^m Fryer Chairman, Cha^s H Fisher, Cha^s Hooper, Jn^o H Warman, Rich^d Martin, G H A Beard, Fred^k Eycott.
M^r John James of Newnham in the County of Glocester Esquire one of the Executors of John James late of Clifton in the City of Bristol Esquire deceased attended on behalf of himself and Charles James of Clifton aforesaid Esquire And made out the claim of himself and the said Charles James as Executors or the said John James deceased to one Share N^o 12 of the Undertaking of the Stroudwater Navigation lately belonging to and now standing in the name of the said John James deceased in the books of the Company of Proprietors of the Stroudwater Navigation by producing the Probate of the Will of the said John James deceased bearing date the second day of February 1849 Wherby he appointed his Sons the said John James of Newnham and Charles James Executors of his said WIll which was duly proved by them in the Prerogative Court of the Archbishop of Canterbury on the eleventh day of June 1849 and also producing the original Ticket or Title to the said Share.
And the Claim of the said John James of Newnham on behalf of himself and the said Charles James is admitted accordingly.
M^r George Henry Augustus Beard of Stanley St Leonards in the County of Gloucester Gentleman one of the Executors of Matilda Beard late of the City of GLoucester Spinster deceased attended on behalf of himself and Frances Lockey of the City of Gloucester Widow and made out their Claim as Executors o fthe said Matilda Beard of two Shares N^os 45 & 53 of the Undertaking of the Stroudwater Navigation lately belonging to and now standing in the name of the said Matilda Beard in the Books of the Company of Proprietors of the Stroudwater Navigation by producing the Probate of the Will of the said Matilda Beard bearing date the 11th day of March 1847 whereby she appointed the said George Henry Augustus Beard and Frances Lockey Executor and Executrix of her said Will which was duly proved by the said Geo Hen^y Aug^ Beard and Frances Lockey in the Prerogative Court of the Archbishop of Canterbury on the 23rd day of June 1849 and also producing the original Tickets or Titles to the said two shares.
And the Claim of the siad Geo Hen^y Aug^t Beard on behalf of himself and Frances Lockey is admitted accordingly.
Benjamine Williams of Cowley Grove in the County of Middlesex Esquire and James Charles Hallewell of Stroud in the County of Gloucester Esquire Executors of Robert Hughes late of Beech Ash Green in the parish of Painswick in the County of Glouceter attended and made out their claims as such Executors to one Share N^o 21 of the Undertaking of the Stroudwater Navigation lately belonging to and now standing in the name of the said Roberts Hughes in the Books of the Company of Proprietors of the Stroudwater Navigation by producing the Probate of the Will of the said Robert Hughes bearing date the 12th day of July 1849 Whereby he appointed the said Benjamin Williams and James Charles Hallewell Executors to his said Will which was duly proved by the said Benjamin Williams and James Charles Hallewell on the Prerogative Court of the Archbishop of Canterbury on the 11th day of August 1849 and also by producing the original Ticket or Title to the said share.
And the Claim of the said Benjamin Williams and James Charles Hallewell is admitted accordingly.
Ordered that the next Half Yearly Meeting be held on Wednesday the 24th October and that the Clerk do publish the usual Notices thereof.
In consequence of a letter from M^r Samuel S Marling to the effect that he must postpone the execution of the Works proposed at and near the Feeder at Ebley Mills till the Spring the further consideration of the subject was deferred.
Ordered that the Basin at Framilode be cleared out and that M^r Driver be authorised to drive the Mud out by Blow Board if practicable.
Ordered that M^r Oliver Cam's estimate for new tiling the Roof of the House at Framilode occupied by George Williams for the sum of £19 be accepted and that M^r Driver do give the needful orders for the work to be proceeded with at once.
Ordered that the Office at Framilode be repaired by taking up the Freestone paving which is worn out and substituting Silver Grey Forest Stone paving.
Ordered that the needful zinc spouting be procured and put up at the House occupied by George Williams.
Ordered that the following Bills and Accounts be paid:
