At a Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee Room at Wallbridge on Wednesday the 23rd day of April 1837 1pm
Present: M^r William Fryer, Fred Eycott. J H Warman, C H Fisher Chairman, Richard Martin, T C Croome, H Harris.
The Committee appointed at the last Meeting reported that they had inspected the Two Bridges at the Gas Works and M^r Davies's Mill. That they considered the Bridge at the Gas Works wholly worn out and that at M^r Davies's to be substantial but in want of minor repairs. They therefore recommended that a new Bridge be erected near M^r Davies's Mill and that the old Bridge now there should be repaired and removed to the Gas Works in lieu of the Bridge that is worn out as it suits the other in size and capability of carriage and any long stoppage of the Roads over the Bridges will be thereby avoided.
Resolved that such report be received and acted upon.
Resolved that Strips be placed on the Bridge near the Paper Mill Lock at Whitminster to adapt the road over it to the more convenient use of Cattles.
Resolved that four days be allowed to the Commissioners of Roads for removing Stone from Dudbridge Wharf without a charge for Wharfage instead of two days as at present.
Resolved that M^r Driver be directed to erect some Larch Poles Rails near the Double Lock and a Gate near the Ryeford according to a request from M^r Harper in a letter now produced.
M^r Cooper the Auditor attended and states that he had examined all the Books & Vouchers and found every Item correct.
The Treasurers Book was produced examined & signed.
