Mr Clutterbuck willing to maintain the wall at Dudbridge adjoining his premises.
Many vessels prevented from entering Navigation at Framilode and passing into G&B Canal by Brick Bridge at Saul and Gallows Bridge being permanent erections.
At a Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee Room at Wallbridge on Wednesday the 14th day of Dec^r 1853
Present: M^r Fred^k Eycott, Jn^o H Warman, G H A Beard, Hen^y Harris, T C Croome Chairman.
A Letter from M^r Argent was produced acknowleding that his Drain at Dudbridge was permitted only and the same was ordered to be deposited amongst the Company papers.
As application was made on behalf of M^r Clutterbuck who proposed to take to the repair of the Wall at Dudbridge adjoining his own premises if the Company would give him the right thereto.
Resolved that a decisive answer to the same be deferred that the point may be further considered.
It was mentioned by M^r Hawker that many Vessels that would enter the Navigation at Framilode and pass from thence by the Junction into the Gloucester & Berkeley Canal were prevented doing do by the Brick Bridge at Saul and the Gallows Bridge being permanent erections and M^r Driver reported that he knew of many instances of loss from such Vessels not being able to enter which would be prevented by the substitution of Swing Bridges.
It was Resolved that M^r Driver should ascertain the cost of the alteration which is further recommended because of the great present inconveniences to the Roads and that he should also ascertain whether M^r Cambridge is now disposed to continue his offer to pay the cost attending the change as regards the Gallows Bridge.
M^r Ford applied to make an Agreement to rent his Tonnages on Corn & Flour carried for the use of the Ryeford Mill and he was told that it was not considered to be within the powers of the Committee to enter on such an arrangement.
