Mr Driver reported that gates at Whitminster Lock were now in order and obstacle had been removed.
Irregularities reported in Holmes & Co.’s Carrying trade.
Mr Hawker resigned as Clerk to the Stroudwater Navigation from 10 May next.
At a Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee Room at Wallbridge on Wednesday the 8th of February 1854
Present: M^r Jn^o H Warman, M^R Hen^y Harris, W^m Fryer, Rich^d Martin, Fred^k Eycott, Cha^s Hooper, G H A Beard, C H Fisher, Tho^s C Croome Chairman.
M^r Hawker reported that since the last Meeting he had paid £62..16..10 for Property and Income Tax due 1oth October last.
Ordered that the said payment be approved and adopted.
M^r Driver reported that the Gates at Whitminster Lock are now in order and that the Obstacle has been removed.
Reports having reached the Committee that irregularities have taken place in Mess^rs Holmes & C^os carrying trade,
Ordered that M^r Fisher, M^r Hawker and M^r Croome do see M^r Holmes thereon and endeavour to come to a right arrangement.
M^r Hawker sent in a resignation of his Office as Clerk in the following Words viz:

I beg to give you Notice that it is my intention to retire from the situation of Clerk to the Stroudwater Navigation on May 19th next.

Resolved that the above resignation be accepted and that the acknowledgements of the Committee be offered to M^r Hawker for his valuable and long services and the entirely good understanding which has so long subsisted between him and the Committee.
