Summary

False declarations made by George Nurse and John Butt of contents of cargoes carried by them in the ‘Ellen’ and the ‘John’. Proceedings to be adopted to recover penalties unless they attend next Committee meeting.
Same inspection at on boats leaving at Junction and Framilode to which vessels passing up Navigation are subject. Clerks to enter account of each cargo on ticket before allowing vessels to pass.
Gallows Bridge has blown down. Mr Kearsey threatening proceedings in case bridge not replaced.
Summons against Mr Adams and John Allen for breach of byelaws on 14 September.
In future two pair of lock gates for upper gates and one for lower gates to be kept prepared and ready in case of accident.

At a Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee Room at Wallbridge on Wednesday the 8^th day of November 1854
Present: M^r F Eycott, M^r G H A Beard Chairman, C Hawker, H Harris, J H Warman, R^d Martin, W^m Fryer, T C Croome.
The Cases of false Declarations made by George Nurse and John Bull of the contents of Cargoes carried by them in the Ellen & the John were considered & it was ordered that Letters be written by M^r Croome to each of them informing them that proceedings will be adopted to recover penalties unless they shall attend the next Meeting of the Committee on the 13^th Dec^r next & satisfactorily explain the matter.
Ordered that in future all laden Vessels which shall leave the Navigation either at the Junction or at Framilode shall be subject to the same inspection at those places as Vessels passing up the Navigation are now subject previously to discharging their Cargoes and that the Clerks at the Junction & Framilode do enter the account of each Cargo on the Tickets before they allow the Vessels to pass so far as such account has not been previously entered at Wallbridge and obtain the signature of the Master of the Vessel to such entries and forthwith return the Tickets by Post to M^r Partridge.
It was reported that the Gallows Bridge was blown down shortly before the last General Meeting.
A Letter from M^r Kearsey was read threatening proceedings in case the Gallows Bridge was not forthwith replaced.
Ordered that an answer be sent saying if he will point out any thing to justify his Claim it shall be forthwith considered.
M^r Partridge reported that he had obtained summonses returnable on Friday next against W^m Adams and John Allen for breach of the Bye Laws on the 14^th day of Sep^r last.
Ordered that M^r Croome do attend with M^r Partridge before the Magistrates to support the case.
Ordered that in future two pair of Lock Gates, one for the Upper Gates & one for the lower Gates sufficient for the for the highest Locks be kept prepared and ready in case of accident.
