Summary

Mr Clegram submitted plan for preserving supply of water to G&B Canal during repairs of gate at Whitminster by inserting a dam. Mr Clegram to hold company harmless from all expense.
Mr Croome to ascertain by personal communication with coal proprietors in Forest of Dean or others charge made by Railway Company for carrying coal from pit’s mouth to Bullo Pill, to discover whether traders on this canal are charged more in proportion than traders who convey coal by railway.

At a Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee Room at Wallbridge on Wednesday the 10^th day of July 1855
Present: M^r C Hawker, M^R C Hooper Chairman, F Eycott, T C Croome, J H Warman. H^y Harris, Rich^d Martin, W^m Fryer.
M^r W B Clegram attended & submitted to the Committee a plan for preserving the supply of water to the Gloster & Berkeley Canal during the repairs of the Gate at Whitminster Lock by inserting a dam in the Canal as shown on a plan which he produced & left with the Committee & M^r Driver having stated that in his opinion it was quite practicable without damage to the works. Resolved that the Gloster & Berkeley Canal C^o be allowed to construct the dam as proposed M^r Clegram having engaged to hold this Company harmless from all expence on the occasion.
Resolved that M^r Croome take steps for ascertaining either by personal communication with the Coal Proprietors in the Forest of Dean or otherwise what is the charge made by the Railway Company for carrying coal from the Pit's mouth to Bullo Pill with a view to discovering whether the Traders on this Canal are charged more in proportion than the Traders who convey their Coal by Railway, in violation of the principal laid down on that head by the Forest of Dean Railway Act.
Resolved that M^r Partridge make a return of £3669..5..- for Income Tax on the profits of this Navigation for the year ending 5^th April last.
Resolved that the usual yearly Inspection of the Navigation take place on Wednesday 22^d August next.
Resolved that the following bills be paid:
