At a General Half Yearly Meeting of the Company of Proprietors of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee Room at Wallbridge on Wednesday Oct^r 22^d 1856
Charles Hooper Esq^re in the Chair.
The Minutes of the last General Assembly were read approved & confirmed.
The several Books & Accounts were produced as directed by the Act of Parliament and were examined and passed.
It appears that the sum of £2430..10..0 has been received for Tonnage, etc, from the 1^st day of April last to the 1^st day of October 1856 part of which has been applied towards the payment of Wages Disbursements, etc, & then there remains in the hands of the Treasurer after paying the last Dividend the sum of £1806..5..9.
Ordered that a Dividend of Nine Pounds on each share shall be declared payable on the first day of November next.
Mess^rs Reynolds & Lane attended and applied for a Reduction of Tonnage on Wheat carried on the Navigation giving their reasons in a long statement which was taken into consideration and it was resolved that the question be referred to the Committee and that the next monthly meeting do take place on the 12th November and that the usual notice to the members contain a special request to them to attend and decide the question.
M^r George having also attended and asked for a reduction of Tonnages in Coals carried to Stonehouse it was resolved that this point should also be referred to the Committee.
