Following complaints from Messrs Marling, Strachan & Co, repairs to be made to pens at Ryeford used for landing coals for Stanley Mill.
Gas Company to pay £3 2s for damage to towing path following laying of pipes towards Nailsworth.
House of Commons required a return of share capital and details of dividends paid.
Drawback of 2d per ton on 6d tonnage to be allowed to Mr Cole and any other traders to Cirencester who carry 5000 tons of coal in any year.
At a Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee Room at Wallbridge on Wednesday the 19^th day of May 1858
Present: M^r F Eycott. M^r H^y Harris Chairman, J H Warman, N S Marling, W^m Fryer, G H A Beard, C Hawker, T C Croome.
A Letter was read from Mess^rs Marling Strachan & C^o relative to the state of the Pens at the Ryeford used for landing coals for Stanley Mill.
Ordered that M^r Driver attend to the repairs which he thinks needful and be also authorized to remove the entrance gate in the manner suggested by Mess^rs Marling Strachan & C^o.
M^r Driver reported that the Gas Company in laying the pipes Westward of their Works in order to convey Gas to Nailsworth have injured the towing paths and left them in a defective state - that he applied Several time to the Agents of the Gas Company to repair the same who did not attend to the request and therefore he repaired the path at an expense of £3..2..0.
Ordered that formal application be made to M^r Coley the Clerk to the Gas Company for repayment of the amount by that Company.
A Letter from M^r Geo Ford was read asking for an allowance of the Tonnage of 200 sacks of Wheat sent from Ryeford to M^r Hadley's at Gloucester.
Resolved that the allowance cannot be made and that M^r Partridge inform M^r Ford of this resolution.
A Resolution of the House of Commons requiring a return of the Share Capital of this Company and certain information as to the Dividends and parochial rates with letters from the Board of Trade was read. The Return was filled up and a duplicate ordered to be kept amongst the Company's documents.
A Letter from M^r Taunton was read (accompanied by a Letter from M^r Coles) in which M^r Taunton suggests that a drawback of 3^d per Ton be allowed to all Traders to Cirencester carrying 1000 Tons of coals in any year -- and also suggesting an allowance to reduce the Tonnage on Derbyshire Coals from the Midland Railway to Wallbridge to 5^d per Ton.
Resolved that the Committee do not see the way to agree to their suggestions.
M^r Cole's Letter suggests he would engage to carry 5000 Tons per annum to Cirencester on being allowed a drawback of 3^d per Ton from the present charge on coals carried to Cirencester payable to this Company.
Resolved that a drawback of 2^d per Ton from the present Tonnage of 6^d be allowed to M^r Cole and to all other Traders in Cirencester who should actually actually carry 5000 Tons of Coal in a year.
Resolved that the Meetings of this Committee be held at the Committee Room Wallbridge on the third Tuesday of every month for the future until further resolutions shall be passed on this point.
