At a Special Committee Meeting of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee Room at Wallbridge on Tuesday the 6^th day of June 1865
Present: M^r F Eycott, M^r W W Kearsey Chairman, C Hawker, C Hooper, G H A Beard, C H Fisher, T M Croome.
M^r Peyton reported that G Bird Owner of the Boat Faith did on the 3^s of June enter the Westfield Lock without drawing the Paddle and shutting the Lock Gate.
Ordered that the Clerk apply to G Bird for £1..0..0 Fine informing him that should he not pay this amount the full Penalty will be enforced.
The position of this Company in regard to the Severn Junction Railway was taken into consideration.
It was resolved that a Petition against the Bill should be presented to the House of Lords, alleging all available grounds for opposition, and that the Seal of this Company be affixed to the Petition, but that M^r Kearsey be empowered to negotiate terms of arrangement with the Severn Junction Railway under which the opposition of this Canal Company should bee rendered unnecessary.
