Charles Joseph Harford claimed shares nos.79,80, will of Joseph Harford.
A letter was received from Mr J. Sills written at the request of the Thames & Severn Committee declining to undertake the erection of an aqueduct for the conveyance of the Badbrook water under the Thames & Severn canal under the idea of it not being practical. Resolved that our clerk be directed to report to the Thames & Severn Committee that an aqueduct may be built without any difficulty and that it is highly expedient that it should be done as speedily as possible as while the Badbrook stream continues to flow into the canal, the lower level of the Thames & Severn will be continually filling up with mud which will in great part be conveyed from such level into our canal and that therefore the committee must again urge the necessity of building the proposed aqueduct.
Letter from Mr Wheeler, clerk to the Gloucester & Berkeley Canal Committee, stating in reply to our letter of the 17 December that as the branch of the G&B canal to the Hock Crib is intended to commence at more than three quarters of a mile beyond the South Bank of the Stroud Canal no alteration will be made in crossing our navigation and that under such circumstances an indemnity proposed in the letter of our clerk to be made to our company appeared to be unnecessary. Our clerk is to reply stating that if such indemnity shall be withheld, our committee will expect an assurance signed by the Gloucester & Berkeley Canal Committee that no alteration will be made in crossing our navigation and that no clause shall be introduced into their proposed New Act of Parliament that shall in any way alter or infringe on the former enactments in their various acts, that affect in any way whatsoever the interests of our company, and that an answer to this letter be requested as speedily as possible for the satisfaction of our Committee.
