John Spencer and Ann Tucker claimed shares nos.61,88, will of Mary Spencer.
Many infractions of the byelaw which requires that no vessel shall be navigated on the canal without three men at least being attendant thereon during the Navigation thereof. A board to be placed in a conspicuous situation at Framilode and Wallbridge stating the determination of the Committee henceforth rigorously to enforce a byelaw so essential to the preservation of the works on the Navigation.
At a Meeting of the the Comittee of the Stroud water Navigation at the Committee room at Walbridge on Monday the 12^th Octo^r 1807
Present: San^l Wathen Jos^h Grazebrook, Rev^d J Colborne, Will^m Stanton, Benj^n Grazebrooke, Nath^l Wathen.
Read the Minutes of the last Meeting.
Continued the Orders of the last Meeting.
M^r T Grazebrook attended on behalf of Jno Spencer of the City of Bristol Accoumptant and Ann Tucker (late Ann Spencer, Spinster but now Wife of Ja^s Tucker of the said City of Bristol Accomptant, and make out their Claims to two Shares N 61.88. of the Stroud water Navigation late the property of Mary Spencer of the said City of Bristol Widdow deceased, and formerly the Property of Martha Hopkins of the City of Bristol aforesaid Spinster deceased by producing the Probate of the Will of the said Martha Hopkins bearing date of the 23^rd July 1801 and duly proved in the Perogation Court of the Archbishop of Canterbury 11^th Dec 1801. Whereby it appears that the said Mary Spencer was entitled to the said two Shares during her Life and after her decease the said Jn^o Spencer and Ann Tucker became entitled to the same, a Certificate of the Death of the said Mary Spencer being procured and their Claims are hereby admitted.
Whereas it has been represented that there has been many infractions of the Bye Law dated 8^th April 1800 which requires that no Vessell shall be navigated on the Canal without three men at least being attendant thereon during the Navigation thereof.
Ordered that a Board be placed in a conspicuous situation at Framiload and Walbridge stating the determination of the Committee henceforth rigously to enforce a Bye Law so essential to the preservation of the Works on the Navigation.
Ordered that a Bill be drawn on the Treasurer for the Sum of Four Hundred Eighty four Pounds, seven Shillings and five pence for the use of the Navigation.
Adjourned this Meeting to Monday 26 Ins^t at 5 o'Clock in the Afternoon at the Committee room at Walbridge.
