Summary

The aqueduct near Mr Clissold’s is not defective, the problem arises from water not being supplied by Mr Clissold according to his agreement with the Committee some years and from the bank of the canal adjoining Mrs Pettat’s having been cut through and water diverted. Letter sent to Mr Clissold to carry out repairs immediately.
A feeder to be made at the aqueduct above Ebley Mill on the towpath side to supply canal with water.
William Purcell to put in flood gates at the Mill at Whitminster every Sunday morning so the levels below the Bristol Road are properly supplied. It is also his duty to walk up the levels as far as Stonehouse everyday between tides to make sure no fraud is committed by persons navigating the canal.
William Beard to give an account and description of all materials on the Timber Yard at Chippenham Platt, and John Brown is to assist him in taking the account in writing.
Mr Blackwell, stonemason, to meet the committee at Wallbridge at 7am on Saturday to travel to Five Locks to consider the propriety and expense of removing the weir at that place.

At a meeting of the Committee of the Stroud Water Navigation held at the Committee Room at Wallbridge on Tuesday 23rd August 1814
Present: James Tyers, P H Fisher, John Morgan, Rich^d Miller, John Snowden, Tho^s Holbrow, William Stanton.
Read the minutes of the last meeting.
It appearing to the Committee upon a view taken that the Aqueduct near M^r Clissold's (reported to be out of repair) is not defective but that the want of water arises prinicipally from the Canal not being suppied by M^r Clissold according to his _agreement_ with the Committee entered into some years & also from the Bank of the Canal adjoining M^rs Pettats having been cut through and the water thereby diverted. Ordered that our Clerk do write to M^r Clissold desiring him to repair such bank immediately.
Order'd that a feeder be made at the Aqueduct above Ebley Mill on the towing path side for the purpose of supplying the Canal with water, & that such other means be taken as may appear necessary for obtaining that end.
Order'd that William Purcell be desired to attend to the putting in the flood Gates at the Mill at Whitminster every Sunday morning early so that the levels below the Bristol Road be properly supplied with water, & also that W^m Purcell be informed that it is his duty to walk up the levels as far as Stonehouse every day between tides in order to see that no fraud be committed by persons navigating the Canal.
Ordered that William Beard be directed to give an account of all materials & implements of every description on the Timber Yard at Chippenhams Plat & that John Brown assist him in taking the account in writing.
Ordered that W^m Blackwell Stone Mason be desired to attend at Wallbridge on Saturday next at Seven O'Clock in the Morning for the purpose of going down the Canal with the Committee as far as the five Locks to consider of the propriety & estimate the Expence of removing the Weir at that place pursuant to the Order of a former meeting.
Order'd that this meeting do adjourn to Saturday August 27^th at Eight O'Clock in the morning.
