Clerk to enforce the ruling that all boats passing along the Stroudwater should display the name of the owner and of the steersman on the outside of every vessel. And that a penalty of 10s should be paid for using shafts shod with iron on the canal.
The accounts rendered by masters and owners of goods in or belonging to such vessels are to be rendered in writing under the hand of the master or owner.
£3 to be paid to Thomas Wells for damage to his meadows near Whitminster Bridge by laying mud thereon.
£10 to be paid to Revd Franklin for damages to his land near the double locks by laying mud thereon.
The roads over the bridges on the canal to be put and kept in repair. Also that the bridges and the warehouse at Bristol Road wharf be pointed.
Swing bridge leading to Mr Halliday’s mill at Paganhill to be repaired. In future the floor of swing bridges should be repaired with 3 inch thick red deal or pitch pine planks.
Lower gates at Bristol Road Lock to be repaired and given new balance poles.
Mr Cambridge of Whitminster House to be requested to make some acknowledgement in writing, or by rent, to secure the evidence of the proprietorship of the Company of Proprietors in the land near Walk Bridge whereon a warehouse has been built.
The south bank of the canal near the cottages of the Gallows Bridge be raised and repaired where needful.
A small shed, not costing more than £6, to be erected against wall of cottage occupied by Mr Power at Framilode.
Banks of the canal at Dimock’s Coal Yard at Ebley to be repaired.
Materials to be supplied to Thomas Clark of Stonehouse Wharf to allow him to erect a shed adjoining his house.
At a Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee Room Walbridge On Tuesday the 23rd April 1833
Present: M^r Jones, M^r Stanton, M^r Snowden, M^r Wilson, M^r Morgan, M^r Fisher.
Examined the Books and Accounts of the Company.
Ordered that our Clerks do henceforeward enforce the penalty enacted by the Act of incorporation against Owners of all Vessels entering the Stroudwater Navigation who shall omit to put their name & the name of the Steersman on the outside of every such vessel. And also the Penalty of ten Shillings for using Shafts shod in Iron on the Canal according to the Bye Law of 9^th April 1788 in that respect.
Ordered that the account rendered by Masters & Owners of Vessels of the quantity of Goods in or belonging to such Vessels, be henceforth rendered in writing under the hand of the Master or Owner.
Ordered that the sum of £3 be paid to M^r Thomas Wells for damage done to his Meadow near Whitminster Bridge by laying mud thereon.
Ordered that the Sum of £10 be again tendered to Rich^d Franklin as for the full damages done to his Land near the double Locks by the laying of mud thereon.
Ordered that the Roads over the Bridges of the Canal generally, be put & kept in good repair so as to protect the Crowns of the Arches of such Bridges, & that the Bridges generally be also pointed & kept in good repair in all respects. That the Warehouse at Bristol Road Wharf be pointed & otherwise repaired & the Shoots & Gutters for conducting water be also repaired & painted.
Ordered that the Swing Bridge leading from M^r Hallidays Mill at Paganhill be repaired & that on the future repair or renewal of any of the Swing Bridges of the Canal, the floors of such Bridges be made with red Deal or pitch pine planks, of the width of 6 Inches & the thickness of 3 Inches.
Ordered that the mud by cleared from the drain in a field in occupation of M^r Halsey near the Bristol Road bridge.
Ordered that the lower pair of Gates at the Lock at Bristol Road be repaired & new balance Poles be put in them. That the fence at Critchley's Garden be repaired.
Ordered that M^r Cambridge of Whitminster House be requested to make some acknowledgement in writing or by Rent to secure the evidence of the proprietorship of the Company of Proprietors in the Land near the Walkbridge, whereon a Warehouse has been built.
Ordered that the south banks of the Canal near the Cottages & the Gallows bridge be raised & repaired where needfull.
Ordered that a small shed be executed against the Cottage occupied by M^rs Gower at Framilode with a stack for a Cost not exceeding in expence £6..-..-.
Ordered that the Banks of the Canal at Dimocks Coal Yard at Ebley be repaired.
Ordered that materials be supplied to Thomas Clark of the Wharf at Stonehouse to enable him to erect a Shed adjoining his House there.
Ordered that a new pair Lower Lock Gates be made & put up at the Blunder Lock.
