At a Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee Room at Walbridge On Friday the 13^th day of September 1822
Present: D^r Darke, M^r Snowden, M^r Jones, M^r Stanton, M^r Holbrow.
Examined the Books and Account of the Company.
Samuel Fisher of Stroud in the County of Gloucester Gentleman appeared on the part of James Edwards & William Morris surviving executors of John Bower late of Newent in the County of Gloucester deceased & made claim for them of One Share N^o 184 in the undertaking of the Stroudwater Navigation, & at the same time produced 1^? an extract of the Marriage Register of the Parish of Newent, by which it appears, that Anne Roston (the last person to whom the said share was transferred) intermarried with John Bower of Newent aforesaid on the second day of December 1794. Seondly Extracts from the Register of Burials of the said Parish of Newent, which shows he burial of Ann Bower Wife (who before her marriage to John Bower was Anne Roston, the Proprietor of the said Share N^o 184) on the thirty first day of July 1810, and the burial of John Bower (who survived her) on the 14^th of April 1814. The said Samuel Fisher also produced the Probate of the Will of the said John Bower bearing date the 18^th day of March 1813, whereby he appointed the said James Edwards and William Morris together with Edward Bower since deceased Executors of his Will, which was duly proved in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury on the 14^th day of November 1814 as appears by the Probate/
It is ordered that the claim of the said James Edwards and William Morris, as Executors of the late John Bower, be allowed accordingly.
Ordered that Materials be prepared for a new pair of upper Lock Gates at the Turnpike gate Lock at Chippenham Plat.
Ordered that the pleasure Boat be sent to Gloucester for the purpose of being sold.
Ordered that all fines & Bye Laws be printed & distributed by W^m Purcell to the Master or Owner of every Vessel, as such Vessel enters the Canal.
Ordered that a small Copper Brewing Furnace be put up in the back Kitchen of the House at Stonehouse Cross Wharf.
