Summary

Eastington Bridge to be lowered in the crown by 15 inches and widened three feet; but no expense be incurred by the Company towards any alteration in the road leading to or over the bridge.
A new swivel bridge to be made in the place of the Old Bridge opposite Fromehall Mill.

At a Special Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee Room at Walbridge on Friday the 2nd May 1823
Present: M^r Jones, M^r Stanton, M^r Wathen, M^r Fisher, M^r Watts, M^r Morgan, M^r Holbrow, M^r Snowden.
The Committee having taken a view of the Bridge at Chippenham Plat, & it being found to their satisfaction that the said Bridge can be lowered in the Crown of the Arch fifteen Inches without injury of inconvenience to the Navigation of the Canal, & M^r Watts having attended the committee & communicated to them, that the Commissioners of the Road were not disposed to make any allowance towards the alteration proposed by them, and it appearing to the Committee that it would be a great convenience to the Public if the Bridge were not only lowered 15 Inches but at the same time widened three feet, Ordered that the said Bridge be lowered 15 Inches in the Crown and widened three feet, but that no expence be incurred by the Company towards any alteration in the Road leading to or over the Bridge. Ordered that the Work be begun on the 15^th day of June next.
Ordered that there be a new Swivel Bridge in the place of the Old Bridge opposite Froomehall Mill.
