Summary

John Snowden claimed shares nos.13,14, will of Samuel Snowden.
Mr Newman having made a return of 11 tons of corn landed at the wharf at Wallbridge, whereas the weight of corn actually landed was 16 tons 4 cwt, he incurred a penalty of £10 8s 0d, at the rate of £2 per ton.

At a Special Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee Room at Walbridge on Monday the 28^th day of July 1823
Present: M^r John Snowden, M^r Stanton, M^r Tho Holbrow, M^r Jones, M^r Wilson, M^r Fisher, D^r Darke.
John Snowden Esq^r attended on behalf of himself, He being the administrator with the Will annexed of Samuel Snowden of the Parish of Painswick in the County of Gloucester M.D. deceased, and made out his claim to two Shares N^os 13 and 14 in the Stroudwater Navigation the property of the said Samuel Snowden deceased, by producing the probate of the Will of the said Samuel Snowden bearing date the 22^nd day of August 1822, and duly proved in the prerogative Court of the Archbishop of Canterbury the 21^st day of January 1823. Whereby it appears that the said John Snowden is the Administrator of the said Will & his claim is hereby admitted accordingly.
It having been satisfactorily proved (& not denied by M^r Newman) that on the 1^st day of July instant, He made a return of 11 Tons of Corn landed at the Wharf at Walbridge. Whereas the weight of the Corn actually landed was 16 Tons 4 Cwt; whereby He hath incurred a penalty of £10..8..0 being after the rate of £2 per Ton. Ordered that the said fine be enforced, together with the tonnage duties due on & in respect of the extra weight of Corn.
