Half Yearly General Meeting. Tonnage £4559 0s 3d. Balance after wages, etc, £3823 8s. Dividend of £19 declared.
A letter from the Chairman of the Committee of the Gloucester & Berkley Canal Company requested that the rate tolls charged for the passing of vessels on the Stroudwater Navigation from Framilode to the G&B Canal at its Junction with the Stroudwater Navigation be lowered from 5d (now charged) to 2d per ton. Clerk to reply stating that it is not deemed advisable to lower the rate of tonnage requested.
At a General half Yearly Meeting of the Proprietors of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the George Inn in Stroud on Wednesday the 14^th April 1824

The minutes of the last general meeting were read & confirmed. The several Books & accounts were produced respecting the affairs of the Company *as directed by Act of Parliament) and were examined & confirmed.
It appears by the books that the sum of £4559..0..3 has been received for Tonnage, etc, from the 13^th day of October last to the 13^th Instant, a part of which has been applied towards the payment of wages, disbursments, etc, & that there remains in the Treasurers hands (after paying the last dividend) the sum of £3823..8..0.
Ordered that a dividend of £19 be paid on each Share by the Treasurer on the 1^st day of May next, & that our Clerk do transmit circular Letters to all the Proprietors to inform them that they may draw upon the Treasurer or apply to him for payment thereof,
The following Gentlemen are appointed a Committee for the following Year, Viz:
William Stanton, Joseph Grazebrook, W W Darke, Alexander Townsend. John Snowden, William Laidlaw Wilson, Nathaniel Jones, Joseph Watts, John Morgan, Rev^d William James, Paul Hawkins Fisher.
A letter having been addressed by the Chairman of the Committee of the Gloucester and Berkeley Canal Company to the Clerk of the Stroudwater Navigation to request that the Rate of Tolls charged for the passing of Vessels on the Stroudwater Navigation from Framilode to the Gloucester and Berkeley Canal at its junction with the Stroudwater Navigation be lowered from five pence (now charged) to two pence per Ton; & the same having been laid before this Meeting: Ordered That the Clerk do reply to the said Letter and state that it is not deemed advisable to lower the rate of Tonnage, as requested; but thanking the Chairman for the liberal sentiments expressed in his letter.
