Half Yearly General Meeting. Tonnage £2122 4s 7d. Balance after wages, etc, £1066 4s 6d. Dividend of £5 declared. Clerk to tell proprietors 'That the smallness of the present dividend is occasioned by a diminution in the amount of tonnage, by an increase of expenditure on the works of the canal, and by the stoppage of the navigation for a considerable time for the purpose of making repairs since the last General Meeting'.
At a General half Yearly Meeting of the proprietors of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the George Inn Stroud on Wednesday the 8^th day of November 1826

The minutes of the last General Meeting were read & confirmed. The several Books and Accounts were produced respecting the affairs of the Company (as directed by Act of Parliament) and were examined and confirmed. It appears by the Accounts that the sum of £2212..4..7 has been received for Tonnage, etc, from the 16^th day of April to the 16^th day of October 1826 a part of which has been applied towards the payment of wages and disbursments, etc, & that there remains in the Treasurers hands (after paying the last dividend) the Sum of £1066..4..6.
Ordered that a dividend of Five pounds be paid on each Share by the Treasurer on the 13^th day of Nov Inst^t & that our Clerk do transmit circular Letters to all the Proprietors to inform them that they may draw upon the Treasurers or apply to him for payment of the same.
Ordered that our Clerk do add to the circular letter "That the smallness of the present Dividend is occasioned by the diminution of the amount of Tonnage, by an increase of expenditure on the Works of the Canal, and by the stoppage of the Navigation for a considerable time for the purpose of making, repairs, since the last General Meeting".
