Summary

Half Yearly General Meeting. Tonnage £3339 4s 7d. Balance after wages, etc, = £2621 10s 5d. Dividend of £13 declared.
Contribution of £25 to be paid towards the improvement of the road from Stroud leading to the wharf at Wallbridge.
A byelaw enacted for preventing damage to land adjoining the towing path of the canal, that if any person passing through any gate on the line of the towing path leaves the gate open they shall pay any sum not exceeding 40s.

At a General half Yearly Meeting of the Proprietors of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the George Inn Stroud on Wednesday the 23^rd April 1828
W^m Stone Esq^r in the Chair.
The minutes of the last General Meeting were read & confirmed.
The several Books & accounts were produced respecting the affairs of the Company (as directed by Act of Parliament) and were examined & confirmed.
It appears by the Accounts that the sum of £3339,,4,,7 has been received for Tonnage, etc, from the 15^th day of October 1827 to the 15^th day of April 1828 a part of which has been applied towards the payment of wages, disbursments, etc, and that there remains in the Treasurer's hands (after paying the last dividend) the sum of £2621..10..5.
Ordered that a dividend of thirteen pounds be paid on each Share by the Treasurer on the first Day of May next, and that our Clerk do transmit circular Letters to all the Proprietors to inform them that they may draw upon the Treasurer or apply to him for payment of the same.
The following Gentlemen are appointed a Committee for the ensuing Year, Viz:
D^r Darke, M^r Jn^o Holbrow, M^r Eycott, M^r Jones, M^r P H Fisher, M^r James, M^r S Fisher, M^r Snowden, M^r Grazebrook, M^r Stanton, M^r Tho Holbrow, M^r Morgan, M^r Wathen.
Ordered that twenty five Pounds contribution be paid towards the improvement of the Road from Stroud leading to the Wharf at Walbridge.
Ordered as a Byelaw for the good and orderly using of the said Navigation and preventing damage to the owners or occupiers of Land adjoining the towing path of the Canal That if any person passing through any Gate on the line of the Towing path shall leave the same Gate open, by having propped open the same or otherwise, every such person offending shall forfeit and pay any Sum not exceeding the Sum of Forty shillings.
