Mr Kearsey reported from the Millowners meeting. A sum of money was subscribed towards the expenses of necessary opposition to the Severn & Wye Railway Bill. The meeting appointed Messrs Stanton, Biddell and W Marling as a committee for receiving and applying the fund.
Resolved that Messrs J Marling, Beard and Kearsey be appointed a sub-committee to meet and confer with Messrs Stanton, Biddell and Marling in order that the sub-committee of this company or any two of them shall have full power to take any steps on behalf of this company in reference to the opposition.
At a Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee Room at Wallbridge on Saturday the 22^d day of May 1869
Present: M^r F S Thornton, J T Fisher Chairman, T Marling, W W Kearsey, G H A Beard, T M Croome, S Phipps.
The result of the Meeting of the Millowners held on Thursday last having been reported by M^r Kearsey and that a sum of money was subscribed towards the expenses of necessary opposition to the Severn & Wye Railway Bill and such Meeting having appointed Mess^rs Stanton Biddle & W H Marling as a Committee for receiving & applying the Fund as subscribed.
Resolved that Mess^rs T Marling, Beard & Kearsey be appointed a SubCommittee to meet and confer with Mess^rs Stanton Biddell & Marling and that the SubCommittee of this Company or any two of their shall have full power to take any steps on behalf of this Company in reference to the opposition.
