Mr Taunton’s request (on behalf of the Thames & Severn Canal Co) to have tonnage reduced at Wallbridge to 6d per ton had been looked into by Mr Croome. It was resolved that this reduction could not be maintained and the tonnage be restored to 1s per ton from the time of Mr Croome’s interview with him.
Mr R Williams attended and reported that he wished to give up his house and wharf at Eastington to his brother-in-law Mr Roberts on 25th March. This was agreed.
At a Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee Room at Wallbridge on Tuesday the 15^th day of February 1870
Present: M^r S Phipps, M^r T Marling Chairman, J C Hallewell, J T Fisher, T M Croome, G H A Beard, F S Thornton, W W Kearsey.
M^r Taunton on behalf of the Thames & Severn Canal Company to the reduction of Tonnage at Wallbridge to 6^d per Ton and it being considered doubtful if such reduction could be maintained and M^r Croome having at the last Committee being deputed to see M^r Taunton on the subject and having arranged with him that the Tonnage should be restored to 1^s/ per ton at Wallbridge for the present,
Resolved that this arrangement be carried out and that the Tonnage be restored to 1^s/ per ton at Wallbridge from the time of M^r Croome's interview with M^r Taunton on the 19^th Instant.
M^r R^d Williams attended and reported to the Committee that he wished to give up his House & Wharf at Eastington to his Brother in Law M^r Roberts on the 25^th March next.
Resolved that M^r Roberts be accepted as Tenant. M^r Roberts attended & agreed to accept the tenancy.
