Summary

The complaint against the Stonehouse Railway Company in respect of their drain near the Stonehouse Wharf to be withdrawn, it having been explained that it at present only carries clear water.
Mr Peyton reported that Thomas Harmer and William Rowles had not quitted their cottages at Framilode in conformity with the notices to quit at Lady Day last. Resolved that Mr Peyton be directed to take the necessary proceedings before the justices to obtain possession of the said cottages.
The surveyor reported that on the 24 May last James Twizzle, captain of the Sisters, navigated into the Dock Lock at Eastington without first opening both the bottom gates whereby he has incurred the penalty of £5. Resolved that the penalty be enforced unless he pays a fine of 5s and that the Clerk is to inform him.
The surveyor reported that on the 5 June last William Millard, captain of the Reform, navigated the canal in the parish of Eastington with less than three hands. Ordered that he pay the sum of 2s or the full penalty of 40s be enforced.
The annual stoppage of the canal shall commence on the 24 August and continue until 2 September 1872.
The surveyor be authorised to expend about £2 on Mrs Skelton’s cottage opposite the gas works.

At a Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee Room at Wallbridge on Thursday the 13^th day of June 1872
Present: M^r T Marling, M^r G H A Beard Chairman, M^r J T Fisher, M^r W W Kearsey, M^r T Marling, M^r J C Hallewell.
[45] Resolved that the complaint against the Stonehouse Railway Company in respect to the drain near Stonehouse Wharf be withdrawn, it having been explained that it at present only carries clear water.
[25] M^r Peyton reported that Thomas Harmer and William Rowles had not quitted their Cottages at Framilode in conformity with the notices to quit at Lady day last.
Resolved that M^r Peyton be directed to take the necessary proceedings before the justices to obtain possession of the said Cottages.
[18] The Surveyor reported that on the 24^th May last James Twiggle Capt of the Boat Called the "Sisters" navigated into the Dock Lock at Eastington without first opening both the bottom gates whereby he has incurred the Penalty of £5. Resolved that the penalty be enforced unless he pays a fine of 5^/ and that the Clerk is to inform him.
[18] The Surveyor reported that on the 5^th June last W^m Millard Capt of the Barge Called "Reform" navigated the Canal in the parish of Eastington with less than three hands. Ordered that he pay the sum of 2/- or the full penalty of 40/- be enforced & the Clerk is to inform him.
[46] Resolved that the annual inspection of the Canal take place on the 15^th August next.
[4] Resolved that the annual Stoppage of the Canal shall commence on the 24^th August and continue until the 2^nd September 1872.
[35] Resolved that Mr Peyton be allowed to take a fortnights holiday, or longer if necessary.
[5] The Surveyor be authorized to expend about £2 on M^rs Skelton's Cottage opposite the Gas Works.
