Special Committee Meeting.
Arthur Richard Lewis Whish, Maitland Moore, George Isaac Foster Cooke and Henry Cooke claimed share no.172, will of Isaac William Cooke;
Charles Edwards and Richard John Edwards claimed share no.197, will of Charles Thomas Edwards. By mistake in the ticket for the same numbered 158 (instead of 197).
Mr Kearsey brought a full statement of the position of this Company with reference to the T&S Canal in respect of tonnages and having especial regard to the probable intention of the latter Company to originate a railway scheme next Autumn. Resolved that in anticipation of such an attempt being made, Mr Kearsey apply to Mr Leader Williams to make survey of the upper canal and a report of it’s condition and if he could recommend another engineer to accompany him at a similar charge.

Present: M^r G H A Beard Chairman, M^r J T Stanton, M^r S Phipps, M^r T Marling, M^r C H Hooper, M^r W W Kearsey, M^r T M Croome.
[32] M^r W W Kearsey of Stroud in the County of Gloucester, Gentleman, attended on behalf and under a written authority from Arthur Richard Lewis Whish of the City of Bristol Esquire, Maitland Moore Lane of St Olaves Priory Lowestoff in the County of Norfolk a captain in the Royal Artillery, George Isaac Foster Cooke of Lincolns Inn in the County of Middlesex Esquire and Henry Cooke of the City of Bristol Esquire being the four Executors named in the Will of Isaac Allan Cooke late of the City of Bristol Gentleman deceased, and made out their claim to one share numbered 172 of the undertaking of the Stroudwater Navigation and now standing in the name of the said Isaac Allan Cooke deceased in the Books of the said Company of Proprietors, by producing the Probate of the Will of the said Isaac Allan Cooke deceased, bearing date the 21^st September 1872, with one codicil thereto bearing date the 18^th September 1873m and proved in the Principal Registry of Her Majesty's Court of Probate, on the 5^th day of March 1875, and the Claim was admitted accordingly and a new ticket ordered to be made out, on the ticket or title of the said Isaac Allan Cooke deceased being delivered up.
[33] Mr W W Kearsey of Stroud in the County of Gloucester, Gentleman attended on behalf of and under a written authority from Charles Edwards and Richard John Edwards both of number 66 Lower Thames Street, London, Executors of the Will of the late Charles Thomas Edwards, late of Upper Clapton in the County of Middlesex, Esquire, deceased and made out their claim to one share numbered 197 of the undertaking of the Stroudwater Navigation (by mistake in the Ticket of certificated issued by the late Clerk for the same numbered 158 instead of 197) and now standing in the name of the said Charles Thomas Edwards deceased in the Books of the said Company of Proprietors by producing the Probate of the Will of the said Charles Thomas Edwards deceased bearing date the 29^th day of April 1873, & proved in the Principal Registry of Her Majesty's Court of Probate by the said Richard John Edwards on the 15^th day of January 1875, and the claim was admitted accordingly and a new ticket ordered to be made out on the ticket or title of the said Charles Thomas Edwards deceased being delivered up.
[37] M^r Kearsey having brought before the Committee a full Statement of the position of this Company with reference to the Thames & Severn Canal in respect of tonnages, & having especial regard to the probable intention of the latter Company to originate a Railway scheme next Autumn,
Resolved that in anticipation of such an attempt being made, M^r Kearse apply to M^r Leader Williams to make Survey of the upper Canal and a report of its condition, and if he could recommend another Engineer to accompany him at a simliar charge.
