Summary

Clerk to take out summons against improper practise of netting in the canal, there having been complaints made by holders of angling tickets.
Chairman to meet Mr William Davies Junior of Bridgend re the improper use by his tenant, Mr Walter Daniels, of the towing path to get from one field to another. Reference was made to the agreement of the 11 May 1878 by which the then tenant, Mr William Fawkes, acknowledged that the use of the towing path for such a purpose was merely permissive.
Clerk to reply to Messrs Butt Skurray & Co that they would not allow a reduction in the toll on wheat.
Clerk to see Howard Cook to caution him against bathing in the canal at Hilly Orchard Bridge after a complaint by Mr Lydeard of Dudbridge about such an incidence on the 17 August.
Clerk to see that Messrs Ford removed their barge at Ryeford Mills which was moored in the way of traffic and to replace the coping stones which had been dragged into the canal.
Committee sanctioned a Workmans’ outing which was estimated to cost £4.5s.4d. including the day’s wages.
The house occupied by Mr Charless Critchley at Stonehouse to be supplied with new spouting; also chimney tops rebuilt and other bricklayer’s work done.
Ordered that new bottom gates be made for Pike Lock.

Committee Meeting held at Wallbridge on Tuesday the 19^th day of August 1884 @ 3,o,clock pm
Present: Mr E C Little Chairman, Mr H H Mills, Mr W^m Davies junr, Mr J T Stanton, Mr C H Hooper, Mr G H A Beard.
[7 & 19] The Clerk reported that complaints had been made by holders of Angling Tickets that netting was improperly practised in the Canal -- whereupon the Committee directed him to take out summonses against persons offending in this manner.
[40] He also reported that Walter Daniels a tenant of Mr Davies of Bridgend was in the habit of trespassing on the Towing path by making it a means of communication from one Field to another and produced an agreement of the 11^th May 1878 by which the then tenant William Fawkes acknowledged that the use of the Towing path for such a purpose was merely permissive.
The matter being discussed the Chairman was requested to meet Mr William Davies junr at the locus in quo and report to the next Meeting.
[38] A letter was read from Messrs Butt Skurray & Co applying for a reduction in the Toll on wheat. The Committee declined to entertain the application and directed the Clerk to reply to that effect.
[6] Mr Lydeard of Dudbridge having complained of boys bathing in the Canal at Hilly Orchard Bridge on Sunday evening the 17^th inst. The Clerk was directed to see a boy named Cook and caution him against a repetition of the offence.
[7] A Barge at Ryeford Mills belonging to Messrs Ford Bros being moored in the way of the traffic of the Canal and some coping stones dragged into the Canal, The Clerk was directed to see that the Barge was removed and the coping stones replaced by Messrs Ford.
[7] A Workmans outing was sanctioned by the Committee the expense of which including the days wages was estimated at £4..5..4.
[5] Ordered that new spouting at the house occupied by Mr Chas Critchley at Stonehouse be supplied, also that the Chimney tops be rebuilt and other Bricklayer work done.
[7] The Clerk having reported that the Bottom Gates of he Pike Lock were in a bad state, orders were given for making new ones.
